“Öijerwiks gård”

A short history

Öjerviks gård is written about in a variety of sources, the earliest being from 1457. At the farm you can visit viking graves and there is archeological evidence of farm life from the bronze age (c. 1750–500 BCE)! Öjerviks gård was also the stage where Gustaf Fröding, a Nobel Prize nominee, spent his childhood summers. Another famous author from Sunne, Selma Lagerlöf (first female Nobel laureate in Literature), based her debut novel, “Gösta Berlings Saga,” on fireside stories from Öjervik.
